As an athlete myself, I've received a lot of training throughout my life. I've learned the right way to fall, the right things to eat before competing, the right strength training schedule, the right stretches to do after practice.
But one thing that I was never trained on as a young athlete? Mental strength and endurance.
While in school on my original path of becoming a nurse, I realized the overwhelming stress, pressure, and anxiety I was feeling from my exams – and more importantly, the lack of coping skills I had to deal with those feelings.
That's when I realized this was the same type of stress I had felt all throughout my athletic career and how having the right training can not only benefit the way that an athlete approaches the stress and pressure of their sport, but also the pressures of everyday life.
This creates an environment that sets the athlete up for less injuries, improved mood and focus, and ultimately more success throughout their life.
